Και εμένα μου αρέσουν οι πεζοδρομήσεις αλλά μια πόλη (πόσο παραπάνω μια μεγαλούτσικη πόλη) ΧΡΕΙΑΖΕΤΑΙ να εχει κάποιες οδικές αρτηρίες KAI στο ευρύτερο κέντρο της. Δεν γίνεται να αποκλείσεις τα ΙΧ από όλο το κέντρο της πόλης, ιδίως όταν αυτό είναι το εμπορικό και επιχειρηματικό της κέντρο και όχι τουριστικό κέντρο τύπου Πλάκας στην Αθήνα. Υπάρχουν χίλιοι λόγοι για τους οποίους χρειάζεται να μπορούν να μπαίνουν αμάξια στην πόλη, για να μεταφέρεις πράγματα, για το βράδυ όταν δεν υπάρχει συγκοινωνία, για τουρίστες που θέλουν να πάρουν ταξί για να πάνε στο ξενοδοχείο τους με τις βαλίτσες τους, για ανεφοδιασμό, για τους μεγάλους σε ηλικία, για όσους θέλουν να μένουν στο κέντρο αλλά να έχουν και ένα αμάξι για να κάνουν και μια εκδρομή στην Χαλκιδική που και που, για τους τεμπέληδες στο κάτω κάτω.

Προφανώς πρέπει να ενισχυθούν τα ΜΜΜ. Προφανώς πρέπει να μην φοβούνται οι πολίτες να περπατήσουν ή να χρησιμοποιήσουν ποδήλατο. Προφανώς πρέπει να πληρώσουν οι χρήστες των αυτοκινήτων το πραγματικό κόστος τους στην πόλη (π.χ. απαγόρευση παρκαρίσματος στους περισσότερους δρόμους έτσι ώστε να υποχρεούνται να πληρώνουν πάρκιγκ εάν θέλουν αμάξι).

Αλλά μαξιμαλιστικές απόψεις του στυλ “καθόλου αυτοκίνητο σε όλη την πόλη” είναι και ανεφάρμοστες, αντιδημοκρατικές και επικίνδυνες και τελικά θα σκοτώσουν το κέντρο της πόλης καθότι ακόμα περισσότεροι (ιδίως εύποροι) πολίτες θα αποφασίσουν να μείνουν στα προάστια.
